Ubuntu Culture Village

Meaning

Ubuntu has many meanings, most prominent is "spirit of humanity." It is an Nguni word (from South Africa) describing an African philosophy of life and a guide for social conduct.  It looks at the universe as a composite whole, an organic entity, and emphasizes group solidarity over individualism.

The Inspiration – 2002 World Summit

Ubuntu Village Exposition was an amazing space of country pavilions, performances, workshops, demonstrations and arts & crafts for the general public during the 2002 UN World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, South Africa, a kind of People's World Summit that parallelled the high-level summit nearby.
