I sense the roots of all music comes from the same source,
the great matrix of universal energy that fuels our existence.
From this perspective,
Rhythmatrix is the fulfillment of a long trerm vision.
Ive always wanted to create a musical ensemble
that freely explores world rhythms in a high energy dance format.
After years of touring with my own band, Crystal Wind,
it feels great to cut loose and rejoice
in the freedom of trance music,
which I feel is the next musical evolutionary step
toward global harmony.

Chris Berkner
I have been singing since age 3.
When I started studying singing seriously, in high school,
I realized that learning to sing has a lot in common with learning to live.
That was the beginning of the intertwining webs
of spirituality and music that have continued to spin through my life ever since.
Many styles of music have resonated deeply in my being,
and I play with them all - trance, African, Middle Eastern, folk and rock.
Singing is my connection to the divine, my statement of emotion.
I have taught singing for over six years,
in the hope of opening that magic channel in others.
RhythMatrix is the realization of a long-held dream of mine
to be part of a synergistic group of musicians whose intention is to channel
divine energy and create a powerful group vibe that brings people
into ecstatic dance.

Jacob Harris
A percussionist for over forty years, he began playing drums at age three and recorded with a rock'n roll band at age eight. He went on to study Afro-Cuban rhythms, playing congas and bongo and later added Marimba and Vibes to his rhythmic/melodic expression. Jacob has rhythm so deeply embedded in his cells that hes rarely able to walk down the street without hearing the pulses of complex polyrhythms in his heart and soul. He founded and continues to lead the improvisational trance-dance group Rhythms of Passion, a Marin-based trio. |

Joyus
I play the most marvelous of instruments, the human being,
who dances the path of resonance between expression
of personal melodies and appreciation of the universal symphony. When I play, I listen with you.
You may have listened to my melodies
in the Jazz Iguanas, Eyes Open, or Ntushamala.
You may have listened with me on the mountain
or at the beach, in drum circles,
at church, at Buddhas birthday,
or sharing the wonder of music in classes for young children.
I invite you to listen with me now in Rhythmatrix,
as we dance the trance of resonance.
My wish is that we awaken together in the fullness of love. |
